Eat Away Oily Skin

January 15th, 2010

There are many people out there who have oily skin. Oily skin can be a nuisance and it can also be embarrassing when its results become translated through acne and increased shine. Interestingly, there are things that you can change that go into your mouth that will effect what comes out through your skin. When most people hear the word diet, they draw back, but just think of the possibilities when you tweak your diet and it helps your entire aesthetic appeal.

We have all heard the myths throughout the years, things like do not eat chocolate and soda will cause acne. Then reports came out that said that junk food did not in fact cause you to have acne. However, junk food does cause you to have more oil in your skin. If you have oilier skin, you will be more susceptible to clogged pores, and clogged pores will produce acne. Therefore, try to limit your unhealthy snack choices such as chips, candy bars, and cola beverages.

There are some other things that you can try to decrease your oil levels in your skin. Try to make a food journal before you try to alter your eating habits. Take a moment and be truthful and write down everything that you eat for one week. After the week is done, go back and see how many fried and processed foods you have been eating. You may be surprised at how many times you heated up a frozen dinner, cut out vegetables entirely, and reach for the flavored drink instead of the water.

After you can see all of your good choices as well as your bad in black and white, try to take a couple weeks and eat healthier. You will be surprised at what the toxins in bad food do to your face. You should also never forget to stay as hydrated as possible, regardless of your skin type, but it will help to decrease the oil in your pores. When you drink a large amount of water throughout the day think of it as a detoxification technique. Water has the ability to literally flush out your system and clean your pores from the inside out.

Your diet should be plentiful when it comes to proteins and you should try to cut out as much sugar, fluids from food, and salt that you can. Fruits and leafy vegetables are very abundant in water, so if you can eat more of these, you can make up for any lost hydration during the day. If you are not taking a multivitamin, and you have oily skin, now is the time to start. The more balanced your body is with the right minerals and vitamins, the more clear your skin will become.

Vitamin B2s are important in maintaining the skin and they can be found in foods such as organ meats, beans, yeasts, jelly, grain, nuts, and wheat germ. Oils are not only found in the skin, but they are in plenty of foods, so you should avoid adding any unnecessary excess. If you stay away from things like fatty foods, processed foods, and pork, you can cut down on your oil. If you are cooking with a recipe that calls for oil, try using something lighter like olive oil.

Also, there is no need to lower your immune system when you have oily skin. Avoid alcohol as much as you can. When you drink, your immune system lowers and it is harder to fight off the dirt and bacteria that is getting trapped into your face by the extra oils.

Oily skin is not going to be completely fixed by what you do or do not eat. However, there is nothing that can be harmful about making healthier choices when it comes to your diet. If you can do everything that you can to make your skin clear why would you not want to? Make all of the right choices when it comes to your skin and your diet, and watch your self esteem rise while your face becomes more clear.

Great Skin Secrets

Real beauty lies within as an adage goes. But society has a set of criteria in telling who is physically attractive and who needs improvement. The beauty of the face of a person is just skin deep – true beauty springs from looking good inside and out. The rule of thumb is to keep your self healthy and presentable not only for yourself but to other people whom you work or deal with.

In spite of your quest for eternal youthful look, aging is a natural process that we all have to face. As we mature, formation of creases on our cheeks and fine lines would be visible. The body will experience degeneration of the skin cells, where wrinkling would be obvious in the face, neck, limbs and hands.

The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is the primary site where signs of aging can be seen. Such noticeable gradual changes mean that the body stops growing in late adolescence. This may happen in midlife where the skin cells replace the old ones more slowly. Sagging and folding of the skin are apparent.

Others are fond of saying that aging is just in the mind. And age is just a number. You may feel young, think young or act young but the reality of having character lines and graying temples is an indication of middle age. No one can deny that. In women, such lines of old age are not admired by society. Age spots and fine lines are viewed as defects and most women are ashamed to flaunt them. As they appear, women seek the aid of dermatologists in reducing the spots’ appearance. Being beautiful with flawless skin even among ladies in their 50s remains.

Understanding the changes that the body undergoes and the factors affecting the skin may enable us to take precautions in preventing premature aging and maintaining a healthy skin. Heredity determines how fast the skin would age. The person’s lifestyle may also be crucial. Being in distress or indulging in stress-related jobs may speed up the aging process. Sweating causes to have open pores and exposure to different pollutants greatly affects the skin. Managing our skin by following a skin regimen is helpful in postponing the possible damages caused by external factors.

Bad habits such as smoking, drinking, eating fatty or junk foods, and sun exposure can contribute to cellular destruction. These activities are the common causes of hard-to-repair damaged skin cells. If we continue doing these things without controlling their damaging effects, then we can never attain a healthy appearance.

Wrinkles and age spots are the main concern of aging women in their midlife years. The recurrence of acne may also occur due to the hormonal imbalance experienced. There may be cases that women who enjoyed a pimple-free skin in their teens may complain of skin problems when they grow older.

Remedies vary according to the severity of the skin condition. Diet, regular exercise, quitting smoking and a healthy lifestyle would always be recommended. Over-the-counter medicines are available but should be prescribed by a doctor. Moisturizers and creams are also useful in reducing the signs of aging.

In the market today, there is Lumnaderm, a cream that may be used in reducing the appearance of sun spots, age spots and freckles. It also balances uneven skin tone. Lumnaderm has shown good results to the people who have tried it. Other details about the product can be found in www.Lumnaderm.com. Visit the site to see some testimonials.

For Men – Skin Care Products Fallacies and Facts

January 7th, 2010

Author: Stephen W Lance
Source: ezinearticles.com

Let’s face it, men’s skin care products can be quite confusing. After all, there’s a lot of claims about what they can and can’t do. And, there’s a lot of misinformation that’s spread about by the skin care product makers. The aim of this article is to give you a clear view of what benefits you should expect from

Fallacy: Expensive skin care products contain better ingredients and are better than lower cost skin care products.

Fact: This is no correlation between price and effectiveness. In fact, many expensive skin care products use inferior ingredients in the products because they are motivated by profit.

Some even include products that are bad for your skin. One example is alcohols. These are used in many skin care products, and while not all are damaging, many of these alcohols are drying and cause severe irritation. Don’t judge a skin care product by it’s price.

Fallacy: Natural skin care for men is the same as it is for women.

Fact: Men tend to have very distinct problems that many women don’t. Some of the more common issues faced by men are:

1) Men tend to have oilier skin.

2) Men are more likely to have inflamed skin.

3) Men suffer more from aging caused by free radicals

A good product for men’s skin must take these unique facts into account. If not, the product can actually make some of these situations worse.

Fallacy: The key to good skin is moisturizing.

Fact: While moisturizing helps the look of skin, not all moisturizers are effective and some can aggravate your skin. For example, a common ingredient that’s used in many men’s skin care products is mineral oil. It’s basically a cheap ingredient that can be used as a moisturizer. However, it can lead acne and even irritate the skin causing redness, blotches, and even eczema.

Instead of mineral oil look for avocado oil and macadamia oils. They are excellent moisturizers and provide excellent protection for the skin. Avocado oil also provides a large amount of antioxidants which will help correct damage caused by free radicals.

Fallacy: It’s important to find a product that smells good.

Fact: It’s very common for men, and women, to choose their products based upon the smell. After all, no man wants to walk around with a feminine scent.

However, you should choose a product that has no added perfumes or fragrances. It’s a little know fact that these can be very irritating to the skin and can lead to rashes, dry patches of skin and dermatitis. In short, these are chemicals that get absorbed into your skin. You are much better off choosing a cologne and dabbing that in select spots rather than rubbing chemicals on yourself.

Fallacy: Collagen can make your skin look more firm and young.

Fact: Ok, this one is actually true, but not in the way you think. Most companies that make men’s skin care products would have you believe that by rubbing collagen on your skin you can get younger looking skin. Oh if that it were true, we’d all have young looking skin by now. But, it’s not. Your skin cannot absorb collagen.

However, you can promote the regrowth of collagen using topical ingredients. Three of the best ingredients for the regrowth of collagen are Phytessence Wakame, Cynergy TK, and Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 ( a form of CoQ10).

These are just some of the important things to look for in a anti aging product. To find out about a few other critical, highly effective ingredients that can make your skin look younger and healthier, and get some skin care product recommendation, visit my skin care site

Want To Feel Good, Or Dont You?

Diet is very important when you are experiencing an oily skin condition. If you eat a lot of refined carbohydrates and sugar they will create more insulin that produce more hormones, which will create more sebum (oil), and in turn, will create more bacteria and more acne. You have probably heard refined sugar, especially excess sugar, is not good for you. Remember the barometer, (more about the Skin Barometer in my book) if you have too much of it, it will tell you that you are doing bad things to yourself. The average person eats over 150 pounds of sugar a year. Refined Carbohydrates you want to avoid come in many forms.
When you eat refined carbohydrates they get digested and your body turns them into sugar. You do not need to add a lot of refined sugar to your diet, your body will produce what it needs naturally.
Eat foods that have the nutrients your body wants, have your body love you, not hate you. If your body hates you, you will definitely know by the way you feel after you eat something!
You need a healthy balance from the inside out to have amazing skin. What you want to do is nourish your skin, by eating well and choosing quality foods. By doing this, you could quite possibly take years off of your looks and add years to your life. I want to share with you why it is so important to choose the proper foods to nourish the skin. By eating the proper foods, it will increase your chances of succeeding. The choice is really up to you.
I discuss the importance of safe, pure and natural skin care products. I will teach you what to look for and how to read the labels of your skin care products. Whats in the bottle?

December 29th, 2009

Author: Alayna A Friesbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Do you ever think about what is really in that pretty bottle you
purchase at the beauty counter? What ingredients make up your
skin care products?

I want to share with you about what some manufacturers are doing
to the skin care products. You may think your skin care products
are the best for your skin, but for the most part are bad and
they are doing little good for your skin. When you buy your
products to use in the comfort of your home, you may find that
you cant even pronounce the weird names on the label. You may
have no idea what they are and probably never heard of them in
your entire life. You believe it is okay to use these products
because you may have been told that the product is great for you
skin. You may have been told it will make you have flawless and
fabulous skin and it will make all your skin symptoms disappear.

But then when I found out what was in them, WHOA!!! By my very
own experience, I was shocked to discover the information I
found about the ingredients I was putting on my skin everyday.

Do you know that most of the skin care products on the market
today are full of crap?

I am sure what you discover will shock you as well. I personally
found a huge company, claiming their product was Dermatologist
recommended and that it wont clog pores. Then I turn it over to
read the ingredients, and found that it contains sodium
tallowate, otherwise known as animal fats. Animal fats are known
to clog pores and cause acne.

The Skin Care Industry has conducted surveys concerning natural
products. These surveys proved that customers prefer all natural
products on the market. There has been a heavy increase of
natural products on the market, which is good, but what bothers
me about this is many of these products are far from being
natural. They may contain some natural ingredients or essential
oils, but they still contain many harmful toxins and chemicals
such as parabens, sulfates, and urea. This can be very
misleading to you when you are out shopping for the best product
for yourself. Let me suggest you dont allow these skin care
products to go on your skin let alone in your body! You
understand that these products do get absorbed into your body
through your skin, dont you?

Many skin care products on the shelves are loaded with toxic,
harmful, synthetic ingredients and they are very damaging to the
skin, let alone your health.

Here are some others you have to watch out for…

EDTA (Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid) is a preservative found
in skin care products. Its primary use as I understand is to
keep the product from experiencing changes in color and keeping
the product in tact. Which in and of itself does not sound like
a really bad thing, my problem with this acid is it can cause
redness of the skin as well as enable other toxic chemicals to
enter more freely into the bloodstream. Other known hazards of
this ingredient are that it prevents the regeneration of the new
skin cells.

Gycerin is a fake moisturizer that is derived from propylene
alcohol. It is in products claiming that they will hydrate the
skin, but it actually does the opposite. It steals moisture from
the inside of the body, so it will make it look like it
moisturizes and hydrates, but it really isnt moisturizing the
skin. Look for Vegetable Glycerin, this is an emollient
naturally extracted from vegetable oils.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) This is another one of those acids
that scare me. I say this because of the skin damage that may
result from long term use for exfoliation purposes. Continued
use for exfoliation, can break down the skins protective
barriers. I say this because I understand it takes more than
just dead skin cells off while exfoliating. In my opinion, if
you feel you need to use alpha hydroxy acids, do so at your own
risk.

Petrolatum this is an ingredient that can actually interfere
with the bodys own moisturizing mechanism and can lead to dry
skin and cracking. This ingredient is found in moisturizers and
lip balms to protect them from chapping and sunburn. The skin
can become sensitive to the sun if you use petroleum based
products. Think about it like this, what happens when you put
french fries in a fryer full of oil, they cook. Do you want to
cook your skin? If so, pile on the oil and take a walk in the
sun.

The manufacturers say that by using these petroleum based
products you can achieve amazing, moist skin, and the dryness
will go away. What you may find is that by using these products,
your skin tends to become drier than when you began using the
product and your symptoms may worsen. Your skin may have been
simply over exposed to the ingredient. It also promotes acne and
slows down normal cell development.

All of these synthetic ingredients I have discussed to this
point are found in most skin care products, so you may want to
look at your very own skin care products, and see if you
recognize any of those ingredients I mentioned, so you can see
what I am talking about. I really want to help you achieve
amazing skin, so here are some tips on how to read labels of
your products. If you dont want to believe me or you feel as if
this is not the case, then you can research the chemicals in
your very own products and see for yourself. Always do your
homework. Investigate and research the ingredients listed on the
labels of your products. We have the Internet today that has
tons of information and knowledge on everything. The internet
makes it much easier to do your research on an ingredient in
your skin care product. See, you have the answers right at your
fingertips, you just have to do the research so you can protect
yourself. You can get quick, fast answers that reveal the truth
about the products you are purchasing to care for your skin. I
see and hear advertisements all the time for skin care products
and they claim their product will give you healthy looking skin.

Do You Really Know Your Skin Type?

December 11th, 2009

Author: Sherry Frewerdbr

br
Youre born with it in pristine condition and are taught by your parents how to take care of it as you grow up. You lament over it throughout adolescence; carefully tending to each and every blemish, hell-bent on preventing another breakout. You obsess over your skin, but do you really know it? I mean, can you say for sure what type skin you have?

Just like every other part of your body, know the condition of your skin is the first step toward keeping it healthy and looking its best. Basically, there are four common skin types, normal, oily, dry and combination. Dermatologists identify other skin types such as acne prone or sensitive as well.

Knowing your skin type puts you in the right direction, and with this knowledge you can make educated buying decisions when it comes time to shop for facial products. However, just because you are able to label your skin type as dry or oily, is not a guarantee that the products you buy will alleviate your skin problems or be the best for your complexion.

Why is it that the expensive beauty cream you purchased at the mall does not do for your skin what the ads say that it should? First of all, the advertisement is a general statement, meant for the general population. Your skin is not general, and is never the same from one season to another, or even from one week the next. Everyone goes through hormonal and environmental changes as they go through life. Women experience problems with their complexion due to menstruation and various other hormonal conditions. Your diet and lifestyle can also affect how your skin responds and its appearance.

Because your complexion is an ever changing, constantly turning over organ, the product that worked great last month may cause irritation or simply no longer work as well as it once did. If your skin suddenly experiences an increase in oils, then using your intensive moisture cream may not be the best idea. Dermatologists suggest checking your skin for type changes every few months and adjusting your products accordingly.

To determine your true skin type, make sure that you do the following a few hours after washing your face, when its showing its true nature. Press a piece of tissue on different areas of your face. If oil appears on the tissue then your skin type if oily. A good idea is to do this test when you have not worn makeup or moisturizer on your face. If, after pressing the tissue on your skin, you see no oil, then you have dry skin. Consequently, if you see oil in some areas, and none in others, then naturally you have combination skin.

Now that you have determined your skin type, you can use this information to notice the changes that will ultimately occur in your complexion and make proper adjustments in care, decreasing your number of bad complexion days.br

Dermatology Myths

People have a lot of concepts about skin care. Tons of these, propagated daily, are miscommunicated. These skin care concepts and thoughts have cause a lot of bad skin health and horrible monetary choices. Thankfully, there are ways to avoid these difficulties speedily and without problem.

Tanning is safe. All the gorgeous girls with awesome tans would like to know that tanning is risk free. Unfortunately, the UV rays can actually be fatal and hugely damaging, especially to your skin. This can create early wrinkles, cancer, and infection.

Dry Skin creates wrinkles. Although crumpled skin looks nicer when moisturized, there is zero proof that shows that the moisturizer will actually stop old wrinkles.

Skin care problems can be erased swiftly. Unfortunately, some conditions are chronic, meaning that their healing process is sluggished and methodical. Luckily, they can still be take off, so commitment and control will help explain these evils.

Males do not have as many skin problems as girls. GuysMen have just as many wrinkles as ladies and get other skin care difficulties just as often. It is more common that women are more fretting about their appearance, so they speak about and spread these myths a lot more.

Acne is generated by your food. Acne is created by oils and clogging of the pores. Food products can not create these issues, unless you massage your face with the grease from tons of these products. However, consuming these products directly will not create the skin difficulties you presently are faced with.

Do You Really Know The Truth About Acne Dysmorphia?

December 3rd, 2009

Author: Louise Forrestbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Acne Dysmorphia is extremely rare but it can, and does occur. Linked to Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Acne Dysmorphia is a mental illness which manifests as a complete preoccupation of some kind. In psychiatric terms, it is similar to Anorexia Nervosa.

People suffering from Acne Dysmorphia will think that their skin is disgusting. Imagine waking up every day, seeing your skin as though it should not be a part of you. Acne Dysmorphia sufferers often think that even if they only have mild acne, it is horrible and disgusting. In extreme cases it even stops people from leaving the house and living an ordinary life. The illness is serious, and it does not need to be taken lightly.

The Signs of Acne Dysmorphia

If you have Acne Dysmorphia, you are likely to inflict harm upon yourself, rather than seeking professional help. Many sufferers pick at their imperfections, causing the skin to tear away and bleed. It is not a nice condition, and it can be extremely serious, yet there is not really much public knowledge of the condition. This means that many people do not even recognize what is wrong with them and they do not realize it is a genuine condition.

A way to tell if someone you know is suffering from the disorder is if they have not actually got acne, yet they are convinced that they have. As mentioned earlier, some sufferers only have to have mild acne, if any at all, for them to think that their skin is horrible and full of spots. Their obsession is with a clear complexion, and they will constantly pick at it until it bleeds, and it may even become infected.

Although you may hate your skin, you still cannot help but constantly looking in the mirror. It is a complete obsession and sufferers are always checking to see what it looks like. Has it gone yet? Has it gotten worse? How bad does it look at the moment? All are questions which run over and over again in the sufferers mind, making it absolutely impossible for them to live a normal life.

Another sign of the condition is depression. If you constantly think that your skin is disgusting, you are not going to be a happy person! However, there is help available and as serious as the condition can be, it is treatable.

How can it be treated?

The best way to treat the condition is through Cognitive Behavioral therapy. As there often is not a big problem with acne, no amount of over the counter treatments will help. The sufferer sees the problem worse than it actually is therefore they will never be satisfied with any product results.

Cognitive Behavior therapy works by treating the obsession itself. Most people find that this really helps, and symptoms usually decrease dramatically after treatment. You will learn to fight the negative feelings each and every day, as well as giving you anti depressants if needed. There are also group sessions available in the therapy treatment which many sufferers find helpful because they find that they are not alone. However, it is optional and it is understandable that some people are too shy to participate in group sessions.

Overall, Cognitive Behavioral therapy can really help and it is the only treatment which will. If you are suffering from the condition, it is important to know that you are not alone and that you can beat it, no matter how bad you feel at the moment. It simply is not possible to ignore the problem and hope it will go away, and deep down, you know that. As rare as the condition is, there is always somebody else who knows how you are feeling. If you get help, not only will you help yourself, but you will be helping others too by bringing the problem to peoples attention./pbr

How To Cope If Your Baby Suffers From Acne

December 1st, 2009

Author: Louise Forrestbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
It may not be news to you that acne is not merely a problem in teenage, or that it can affect people of any age. But did you know that acne could even affect babies? So no matter how bad your acne problem may be, imagine how much worse it must be for babies who are not even able to make themselves understood.

You would think that nature could be kinder by sparing babies the misery of suffering so much discomfort when they are not even able to communicate. But unfortunately, that is just the way it is. Babies do suffer from acne and there is not much that you or they can do except to put up with it and make them as comfortable as possible.

Why do babies get acne? You may be at your wits end when you are faced with a squalling baby and cannot fathom what could possibly be the problem. But once you face up to the fact that your baby is suffering from acne, you will feel better if you know a little about it.

Baby acne is caused by the transfer of hormones from the mothers body, through the placenta. These hormones have the effect of stimulating the secretion of oil in the babys skin. As a result, your baby may develop acne. Baby acne usually appears at an age when babies are generally cranky and you can be sure that you will be in for more than a few sleepless nights!

What to expect with baby acne. You will find that baby acne generally appears when your baby is about three or four weeks old. It shows up in the form of bumps on the babys cheeks, forehead or chin. Once it has made an appearance, the acne may be visible off and on until the baby is between four and six months old.

Coping with your babys acne. Unfortunately, since this is normal and will simply have to clear up in its own time, there is not very much you can do. The best thing you can do is to keep your skin clean and make sure that he or she is as comfortable as possible. It would help to wash your babys face with water. Using mild soap once daily would also be a good idea.

Watch for milk or saliva dribbling from the babys mouth, which could irritate the skin and should be wiped away. You should also take care to avoid using harsh laundry detergents.

The best thing you can do for yourself while you are coping with your babys acne is to try and relax. If you are really worried, perhaps you could consult a pediatrician. Remind yourself that your babys acne will clear up in time and will be nothing more than a distant memory in a short while.

Baby acne is a passing phase. Instead of fretting, remember that your time with your baby is very precious. It is also a time that will not return so make the most of it while you can. Once your babys acne has cleared up, you will probably wonder why it upset you so much. Circumstances may be a little different the next time your child develops acne. By then, you will have a teenager on your hands and a whole new set of problems, as your child advances towards adulthood.

So do try to take it easy and remember that it is much more important to enjoy the time you spend with your baby. Acne and other problems may come and go but your child is growing and changing every day. It would be a shame for you to let your babys acne to get in the way./pbr
