Eat Away Oily Skin

There are many people out there who have oily skin. Oily skin can be a nuisance and it can also be embarrassing when its results become translated through acne and increased shine. Interestingly, there are things that you can change that go into your mouth that will effect what comes out through your skin. When most people hear the word diet, they draw back, but just think of the possibilities when you tweak your diet and it helps your entire aesthetic appeal.

We have all heard the myths throughout the years, things like do not eat chocolate and soda will cause acne. Then reports came out that said that junk food did not in fact cause you to have acne. However, junk food does cause you to have more oil in your skin. If you have oilier skin, you will be more susceptible to clogged pores, and clogged pores will produce acne. Therefore, try to limit your unhealthy snack choices such as chips, candy bars, and cola beverages.

There are some other things that you can try to decrease your oil levels in your skin. Try to make a food journal before you try to alter your eating habits. Take a moment and be truthful and write down everything that you eat for one week. After the week is done, go back and see how many fried and processed foods you have been eating. You may be surprised at how many times you heated up a frozen dinner, cut out vegetables entirely, and reach for the flavored drink instead of the water.

After you can see all of your good choices as well as your bad in black and white, try to take a couple weeks and eat healthier. You will be surprised at what the toxins in bad food do to your face. You should also never forget to stay as hydrated as possible, regardless of your skin type, but it will help to decrease the oil in your pores. When you drink a large amount of water throughout the day think of it as a detoxification technique. Water has the ability to literally flush out your system and clean your pores from the inside out.

Your diet should be plentiful when it comes to proteins and you should try to cut out as much sugar, fluids from food, and salt that you can. Fruits and leafy vegetables are very abundant in water, so if you can eat more of these, you can make up for any lost hydration during the day. If you are not taking a multivitamin, and you have oily skin, now is the time to start. The more balanced your body is with the right minerals and vitamins, the more clear your skin will become.

Vitamin B2s are important in maintaining the skin and they can be found in foods such as organ meats, beans, yeasts, jelly, grain, nuts, and wheat germ. Oils are not only found in the skin, but they are in plenty of foods, so you should avoid adding any unnecessary excess. If you stay away from things like fatty foods, processed foods, and pork, you can cut down on your oil. If you are cooking with a recipe that calls for oil, try using something lighter like olive oil.

Also, there is no need to lower your immune system when you have oily skin. Avoid alcohol as much as you can. When you drink, your immune system lowers and it is harder to fight off the dirt and bacteria that is getting trapped into your face by the extra oils.

Oily skin is not going to be completely fixed by what you do or do not eat. However, there is nothing that can be harmful about making healthier choices when it comes to your diet. If you can do everything that you can to make your skin clear why would you not want to? Make all of the right choices when it comes to your skin and your diet, and watch your self esteem rise while your face becomes more clear.

Do You Really Know The Truth About Acne Dysmorphia?

Acne Dysmorphia is extremely rare but it can, and does occur. Linked to Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Acne Dysmorphia is a mental illness which manifests as a complete preoccupation of some kind. In psychiatric terms, it is similar to Anorexia Nervosa.

People suffering from Acne Dysmorphia will think that their skin is disgusting. Imagine waking up every day, seeing your skin as though it should not be a part of you. Acne Dysmorphia sufferers often think that even if they only have mild acne, it is horrible and disgusting. In extreme cases it even stops people from leaving the house and living an ordinary life. The illness is serious, and it does not need to be taken lightly.

The Signs of Acne Dysmorphia

If you have Acne Dysmorphia, you are likely to inflict harm upon yourself, rather than seeking professional help. Many sufferers pick at their imperfections, causing the skin to tear away and bleed. It is not a nice condition, and it can be extremely serious, yet there is not really much public knowledge of the condition. This means that many people do not even recognize what is wrong with them and they do not realize it is a genuine condition.

A way to tell if someone you know is suffering from the disorder is if they have not actually got acne, yet they are convinced that they have. As mentioned earlier, some sufferers only have to have mild acne, if any at all, for them to think that their skin is horrible and full of spots. Their obsession is with a clear complexion, and they will constantly pick at it until it bleeds, and it may even become infected.

Although you may hate your skin, you still cannot help but constantly looking in the mirror. It is a complete obsession and sufferers are always checking to see what it looks like. Has it gone yet? Has it gotten worse? How bad does it look at the moment? All are questions which run over and over again in the sufferers mind, making it absolutely impossible for them to live a normal life.

Another sign of the condition is depression. If you constantly think that your skin is disgusting, you are not going to be a happy person! However, there is help available and as serious as the condition can be, it is treatable.

How can it be treated?

The best way to treat the condition is through Cognitive Behavioral therapy. As there often is not a big problem with acne, no amount of over the counter treatments will help. The sufferer sees the problem worse than it actually is therefore they will never be satisfied with any product results.

Cognitive Behavior therapy works by treating the obsession itself. Most people find that this really helps, and symptoms usually decrease dramatically after treatment. You will learn to fight the negative feelings each and every day, as well as giving you anti depressants if needed. There are also group sessions available in the therapy treatment which many sufferers find helpful because they find that they are not alone. However, it is optional and it is understandable that some people are too shy to participate in group sessions.

Overall, Cognitive Behavioral therapy can really help and it is the only treatment which will. If you are suffering from the condition, it is important to know that you are not alone and that you can beat it, no matter how bad you feel at the moment. It simply is not possible to ignore the problem and hope it will go away, and deep down, you know that. As rare as the condition is, there is always somebody else who knows how you are feeling. If you get help, not only will you help yourself, but you will be helping others too by bringing the problem to peoples attention./pbr

It may not be news to you that acne is not merely a problem in teenage, or that it can affect people of any age. But did you know that acne could even affect babies? So no matter how bad your acne problem may be, imagine how much worse it must be for babies who are not even able to make themselves understood.

You would think that nature could be kinder by sparing babies the misery of suffering so much discomfort when they are not even able to communicate. But unfortunately, that is just the way it is. Babies do suffer from acne and there is not much that you or they can do except to put up with it and make them as comfortable as possible.

Why do babies get acne? You may be at your wits end when you are faced with a squalling baby and cannot fathom what could possibly be the problem. But once you face up to the fact that your baby is suffering from acne, you will feel better if you know a little about it.

Baby acne is caused by the transfer of hormones from the mothers body, through the placenta. These hormones have the effect of stimulating the secretion of oil in the babys skin. As a result, your baby may develop acne. Baby acne usually appears at an age when babies are generally cranky and you can be sure that you will be in for more than a few sleepless nights!

What to expect with baby acne. You will find that baby acne generally appears when your baby is about three or four weeks old. It shows up in the form of bumps on the babys cheeks, forehead or chin. Once it has made an appearance, the acne may be visible off and on until the baby is between four and six months old.

Coping with your babys acne. Unfortunately, since this is normal and will simply have to clear up in its own time, there is not very much you can do. The best thing you can do is to keep your skin clean and make sure that he or she is as comfortable as possible. It would help to wash your babys face with water. Using mild soap once daily would also be a good idea.

Watch for milk or saliva dribbling from the babys mouth, which could irritate the skin and should be wiped away. You should also take care to avoid using harsh laundry detergents.

The best thing you can do for yourself while you are coping with your babys acne is to try and relax. If you are really worried, perhaps you could consult a pediatrician. Remind yourself that your babys acne will clear up in time and will be nothing more than a distant memory in a short while.

Baby acne is a passing phase. Instead of fretting, remember that your time with your baby is very precious. It is also a time that will not return so make the most of it while you can. Once your babys acne has cleared up, you will probably wonder why it upset you so much. Circumstances may be a little different the next time your child develops acne. By then, you will have a teenager on your hands and a whole new set of problems, as your child advances towards adulthood.

So do try to take it easy and remember that it is much more important to enjoy the time you spend with your baby. Acne and other problems may come and go but your child is growing and changing every day. It would be a shame for you to let your babys acne to get in the way./pbr

Most people are aware that teenagers are prone to acne. We have heard a great deal about the hormonal changes that contribute to acne in adolescents. Take a look at any given group of youngsters and you can be sure that at least a few, if not all of them, will be suffering from acne of one kind or another.

You probably remember struggling with an acne problem at some time or other during your adolescence. At the time, it probably seemed like the end of the world. But as the years passed, so did the acne and naturally in time, you forgot all about it.

Could that be acne? But you happened to look in the mirror the other day, and what you saw sure gave you a jolt. Welcome to adult acne. If you ever thought you had finished with acne just because you are no longer a teenager, it is time to come back to earth. It is time to realize that adults do suffer from acne, although it is a little different from the acne that troubles teenagers.

Adult acne, the bad news. In a way, adults have a bigger problem with acne because the kind of acne that develops in adulthood, appropriately called adult onset acne, does not require greasy skin to develop. Dry skin will do just fine.

As far as adults are concerned, men are really in a spot (pun intended) if acne develops on the face. If this happens, shaving can be a tricky and painful business as they negotiate their way around their acne to avoid going through it.

Acne in adults is a complex issue. There is another problem with adult acne. Most of the products on the market are intended for the treatment of acne in adolescents. But they contain substances that irritate the skin of adults. Apart from that, acne that develops in adulthood can last for years and may also cause the skin to age faster. Hormones also play a part here, as women have to deal with the hormonal changes accompanying menstruation and pregnancy. These are conditions that sometimes encourage the development of acne.

Adult acne, the trouble spots. Unfortunately, adult acne also tends to make the skin age faster. In addition, if it is not treated promptly, the scars that are caused by adult acne tend to be permanent. The natural response of the body to acne is to focus antioxidants in the affected area. As a result, the skin of adults who have acne is given to wrinkling.

All of a sudden, adult acne is looking like a rather complicated business, would you not say? And you thought you were through with acne years ago. But it is time to take a look at what you can do about it.

Do not lose heart, you can beat your acne. The best thing you can do about your acne as an adult is to ensure that you maintain a good lifestyle and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water and make sure that you get plenty of fresh air. Above all, try not to touch your acne.

Remember that there are a number of products on the market for the treatment of acne. However, many of these products have unpleasant side effects, so you should select your acne treatment carefully. You could perhaps try to tackle your acne the proactive way.

Safe treatments for your acne. Proactive acne treatment relies on natural remedies but not all acne sufferers are convinced of its effectiveness. The proactive approach is about treating acne internally and externally, and you can be sure that it will be completely safe. Proactive products for the treatment of acne have improved in recent years.

One product that has become pretty popular from this perspective is 101E Acne Getaway. This could be just the product for you because it is specially formulated to tackle several skin problems, heal and revive your skin, apart from tackling grease, pimples and blackheads. It will also restore the moisture balance of your skin. You could also consider Oregano Oil RX, which comes in the form of an organic skin care cream, 300% stronger than the conventional oregano oil.

So there you are, even if you have been caught off guard, there is no need to get too upset because there is plenty of help at hand. Your acne need no longer be the nightmare it once was, so do cheer up!/pbr

Discover The Link Between Acne & Hormones

November 18th, 2009

Whenever you think about acne, you must admit you will at least be reminded of hormones! Hormones and acne are old friends and bosom buddies. In fact, they can hardly do without each other.

Ever present danger of Acne. Acne can strike at any time in your life, whether you are a child, a teenager, an adult or a senior citizen. At every stage, you can bet that hormones will have some part to play. You can probably count on having your own special tale of woe, depending on how badly you have been scarred by your encounter with acne.

So let us take a look at how hormones can affect acne in a variety circumstances. Believe it or not, even babies have not managed to escape the menace of acne. That sure does seem a shame considering they are not even able to make themselves understood. Acne in babies is caused by the transfer of maternal hormones to the baby through the placenta, which stimulates the secretion of oil in the skin.

Acne is also evident in children before they reach puberty. At this time, girls are more prone to the condition than boys, while they are more or less equally affected by acne through the adolescent years. In adulthood, it is women rather than men who suffer from acne more often. Teenagers and young adults make up the bulk of acne sufferers. All of these inclinations towards acne among the different age groups are dictated by variations of hormonal activity.

References to hormonal acne can actually be rather misleading because nearly all forms of acne are affected by erratic hormone levels. This is true in the case of both males and females. Although generally speaking, the layman tends to regard testosterone as a male hormone and estrogen and progesterone as female hormones, in fact both males have a combination of all three hormones.

The appearance of acne is mainly caused by fluctuating levels of testosterone. When the levels of these hormones are high, secretion by the sebaceous glands also increases. This in turn encourages the formation of acne.

Teenage acne woes. Then again, it is the adolescent years, when hormonal activity is high, that are most commonly associated with the appearance of acne. That is why acne is particularly prevalent among teenagers, whose skin tends to be greasy. Since males have a higher concentration of male hormones, the acne problem is more acute in teenage boys. This is also the reason why men who use anabolic steroids tend to have eruptions of acne on the torsos and faces.

Acne woes for women. As far as women are concerned, acne that is induced by hormonal activity is most often linked to the menstrual cycle, when levels of estrogen are at their highest. Increased levels of progesterone following ovulation result in increased secretion from the sebaceous glands, making the skin greasy, clogging pores and encouraging the formation of acne. Acne may even trouble women after menopause. At this time, while estrogen levels have begun to recede, testosterone levels are high.

Acne and hormonal changes. There are a few telltale signs that will indicate whether your acne is the result of hormonal changes. Acne that breaks out for the first time in adulthood is one such indicator. A menstrual cycle that tends to be irregular is another. Other pointers include a greasy appearance to the face, which is the result of excessive secretion from the sebaceous glands, and the growth of hair in odd parts of the body.

It is evident therefore that there is a clear link between hormonal activity and the appearance of acne. Even the appearance of acne in the last three months of pregnancy has been attributed to hormonal imbalance. The use of oral contraceptives to regulate the activity of both male and female hormones has been effective in slowing down the activity of the sebaceous glands. However, this is not generally considered a treatment option for men with acne.

It does appear that acne and hormones will be friends for life. We will just have to do the best we can to live with the consequences!
