Ok so no matter how old you are ladies, we all make a very classic mistake. When we get spots we automatically cover them with make up. Yea we’re all guilty. But what if you never had to cover them again, what if you never got them again.

Are you actually the cause of the problem?

For years dermatologists and cosmetologists have argued about how make up affects your skin particularly if you already suffer from acne. Cosmetic’s are a miracle right? Whenever you get a spot you just pop on a little concealer and away you go with apparently flawless skin, but what you’re really doing is making the situation so much worse. Let’s get technical. If you hate jargon and just want to skip to the solution skip then next paragraph and a half.

Acne cosmetica, acne that is caused by make up is an extremely common and mild form of acne, to the extent that is not referred to as true acne. I was totally indignant when I heard that, not true acne? Well its not fake acne is it; I still get spots so I want treatment. Basically it’s not called true acne because it’s caused by the topical use of products on the skin instead of the endless of other problems within your body that true acne is caused by.I don’t know about you but I’m officially happy to learn that my body’s not as messed up as I thought. So I thought instead of putting loads of chemicals on my skin I should try giving my skin a vacation, away from make up. Well it worked, but it took weeks.

So who’s up for revenge, I know I am. Well here’s the culprit: Comedogens. Do you ever check yourself in the mirror at lunch and think, where’s my make up gone? Well, loads of it gets transferred on your clothes and hands but the rest gets sucked up by your pores. EW! The thing is this would not be too bad if it wasn’t for the fact that so many make up contain ingredients that are considered comedogenic, or substances that clog up your pores. However they don’t cause the true clogging of the pores that true acne suffers get but it still irritates the follicle. So big surprise, we all have a few unsightly spots that are known as cosmetic acne. Now don’t take it out on yourselves, instead be make up smart.
