Being acne free is a sole goal for so many people who suffer the indignity and irritation of pimples or more significant acne infection. Yet there are some quick ways you can get yourself free of acne altogether if you do your homework – and apply a little self discipline. Heres some acne treatment rules to follow.

1. Understand One Important Thing: Acne comes from problems within, even thought its manifested on the outside. You need to understand that having acne is not just a question of having blackheads or acne cysts, it is something that relates to your overall health, specifically the need to remove toxins and to ensure your body is functioning in a manner that will rid itself of acne. Once you understand that you need to alter lifestyle factors (see below) you will be well on your way to become free of the acne that plagues you.

2. Eat Well: Its vital that you eat the right food. Your body is busy detoxifying itself from what has been consumed the previous day and you need to clear itself, which in turn ensures you have good skin. So resist heavy breakfasts and instead eat good fruit which requires little digestion and provides vital nutrients and vitamins for healthy skin. Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables that provide the micro-nutrients, vitamins and other nutrients vital for good skin.

3. Dont Eat Badly: Sounds self evident, but when you eat greasy food, fast food and consume proteins and carbohydrates together the foods react in a manner that sit in the stomach and create bacterial reactions which, once again, create skin problems. Try and eat steamed food, stir fried food and the like, focusing on vegetables and fruit. Your skin will be grateful and its great treatment for your acne.

4. Hydrate: You need to ensure you are getting plenty of water so that the pores open and the body is able to flush the toxins properly. It is important that you drink 6 – 8 glasses of water each day.

5. Exercise and De-Stress: These are combined because one generally goes with the other but ensuring the skin is healthy also means that you are putting yourself in the acne free zone by ensuring hormonal and other factors that badly affect you by causing breakouts will be avoided.

Follow these rules towards your new, acne-free future.

Everything You Must Know About Acne Products

Acne is not easy to treat and it is different in every individual. Usually the acne treatment methods are trial and error. Some treatments work and some don’t. The reason for this is because nobody can actually nail down the exact cause of acne in a persons body. When the reason is unknown then it becomes very difficult to treat the condition. There is no rule that one form of successful treatment can be applied to all kinds of acne.

There are several acne treatments available on the market, and they all claim to be the best cure for acne, but there is no proof that they will actually work. However, they may relieve some symptoms of acne and also reduce skin redness, and may even improve the skin around the acne which overall may look like it is working. But the actual acne getting treated is questionable.

It is a common misconception that acne is a result of bad hygiene which is not true at all. In any case better hygiene is always a good thing to follow but hygiene never affects or causes acne. If you are suffering with acne and notice that it is getting worse, do not go on washing that area extensively. It is best to go to a doctor than use self medication or self prescribed methods of treatment for this condition.

Acne treatments are available in different types. Some are over the shelf, while others are prescribed and some are surgical. Mild cases of acne are often treated by off the shelf products which are easily available in any super market. If the acne is moderate, even a very light form of therapy and extraction using gentle methods is used to treat it. But any method that you follow should not leave a scar.

Some of the most effective treatments for acne are over the counter acne products. These products are literally easily within reach that more and more people suffering from acne are giving up their expensive prescription medicines for these more affordable acne solutions. Over the counter acne products are not only generally less expensive, but they are also usually just as effective with minimal bad side effects.

Before deciding on self-medication, there are a number of things to consider before buying an over the counter acne product. You will be choosing among hundreds of acne products, all proclaiming that they are the best. It is not enough that you just go and buy the best-selling product or the most expensive brand. Here are 3 simple steps to help you choose the right over the counter acne product for you.

First of all, evaluate the severity of your acne. Do you have a few pimples and possibly a smattering of whiteheads and blackheads? Then you might have mild acne. Or maybe you have more than a few pimples, some red spots, and perhaps acne scarring in some areas of your face? You could be diagnosed with moderate acne. If you have a major breakout of pimples and lesions that are scattered all over your face, then you might be suffering from a severe case of acne. Knowing how mild or how severe your acne is can help you choose the right acne products that contain the right ingredients to treat your acne.

The second step is to analyze your skin type. Is your skin dry and flaky, or clogged and oily, or maybe a combination of the two? Those who have dry skin will benefit most from over the counter acne products that are in cream or gel form. These will treat acne and hydrate the skin at the same time. Those who have oily skin should stick with acne products that are in the form of a wash or liquid. Water-based products will wash away excess oils and will not clog pores. Combination skin types need to be spot-treated, which means use water-based products for oily skin and then moisturize the dry areas with cream or gel products.

The third and last step is to define your goals for treating acne. Do you just want to prevent acne? Then use the proper skin care products. Is your objective to get rid of your current pimples? There are mild over the counter acne products that are made specifically for that purpose. Do you want to achieve smooth, crater-free, and scar-free skin? There are many acne treatments that minimize scarring and clear away existing acne scars.

Regular usage of over the counter acne products may take a couple of weeks to a few months before they start showing any effects. It is important to read the product’s packaging first to know the proper dosage and application. You might have to go through a number of over the counter acne products before you find the right one that works for you. Just remember not use two products at the same time without the guidance of a doctor.
